Spencer Eldred hails from Palm Desert, California, where he attended Palm Desert High School. Spencer was the President of the Key Club, the National Honor Society, the California Scholarship Federation, and the Environmental Science Club. He co-founded a community service organization called Kids for Wish Kids Club, and served as jury foreman and attorney for Palm Desert Youth Court. As a senior in high school, he interned with U.S. House Representative Mary Bono, for which he received the outstanding intern award. Spencer was awared maxima cum laude on the National Latin Exam for two years, and is fascinated with historical research. In his spare time, Spencer nurtured his passion for ancient myth and history through creative writing and published a science fiction novel based on historical allegories. Spencer plans to continue his studies in environmental science at Duke, and is also interested in international relations. He hopes to go to law school afterwards and combine his intellectual interests. |

Anne Llewellyn was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, where she attended the Saint James School. Anne was active in community service and student government, including serving as grade representative for the Young Democrats, and was named Youth Mayor of Montgomery through the Politics and Government Club. She has served on the Youth Advisory Committee for her church, won the Science Olympiad for the state of Alabama, runs competitive cross-country, and plays piano at the advanced level. Anne is interested in pursuing her varied intellectual interests in biology, history, classical studies and English at Duke. She plans to teach after college and hopes to write important works of fiction. |

Lisa Ma A public policy and political science double major pursuing a journalism
certificate, Lisa Ma hails from Southern California. At Duke, Lisa serves on
the editorial board for The Chronicle, Duke's student newspaper, and is a
managing editor for the editorial pages. She is also the design editor for The
New Right Review, a political journal at Duke. In the past, Lisa has interned
with Ascend Media, Smith Barney, and the Los Angeles Superior Court. Lisa has
received numerous awards for her journalism, literary, and editorial
endeavors,
including the Stan Chambers Journalism Award at KTLA, and second place in the
editorial category at the 54th Annual Southern California Journalism Education
Association (SCJEA) Writeoff. In her spare time, she enjoys creating images
with PhotoShop and eating food. |

Niti Parthasarathy was born in Raleigh, NC, and grew up in Greer, South Carolina. She attended Southside High School in Greenville, SC for two years before completing her high school education at the South Carolina Governor's School of Arts and Humanities. At both schools, she was involved in numerous extracurricular activities. She earned 11th place in the Debate Nationals, served as Student Body President, Junior Marshal and AP Scholar, and on the executive council of the community service club CATS. Niti, whose parents are from India, was also active in the Indian Youth Association. She is fluent in Tamil and Hindi, and would like to add Russian to the list. In addition to multiple awards in Debate, Niti has also won numerous honors and awards for Piano. Although she did not play varsity tennis in high school, Niti is a huge fan of the sport, and hopes to enhance her skills in college. At Duke, she plans to study International Relations, Economics, History, and International Studies, and to continue her musical training in piano. |
