Hello all,
If you're interested in auditioning...don't forget.....
Wendell Theater Group has announced its 2nd set of winter shows. We are in fact producing two great one-acts. Show dates are January 29-31. This will not conflict with either "West Side Story" or "Blood Weddings". Also, feel free to audition for both these shows and "The Vagina Monologues" as schedules will be worked around if cast in both. Without further ado, the winter shows are as follows:
"Project Perception" (by: Adam Sampieri '03) , directed by Maura Farver '05
"July 7, 1994" (by: Donald Margulies), directed by Josh Allen-Dicker '05
Audition information:
Auditions and callbacks will be held in the new rehearsal studio in the BC on Sunday November 16 (2-5pm) and Monday November 17 (7-9pm). Please prepare a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue for your audition, and sign up for a 10-minute time slot at the Wendell binder at the info desk (in the BC). Callbacks will be Tuesday November 18th from 7-9pm.

Here are summaries for the 2 one-act Wendell shows:
July 7, 1994 (directed by Josh Allen-Dicker)
JULY 7, 1994 follows the day of a white female doctor at an inner-city clinic. Her conversations with her patients reveal troubled lives. In each dialogue--with her husband, a battered wife, an HIV positive mother, a depressed mother, and a childless pervert--there is a common thread: the idea of family, children. She comes home after her day of watching the suffering of her patients and sees her own life in a different light-- while her husband (just as the rest of the characters seem to be) is caught up in the OJ Simpson case, all she wants is to immerse herself in the more serene lives of her husband and young son. When her husband recounts the day's innocent happenings, and reads aloud a bedtime story, she cannot help but breakdown and break lose from the sufferings she's witnessed all day. Silently sobbing in her husbands' arms, she releases the pain of one who must bear it again tomorrow (2 men; 4 women).
Project Perception (directed by Maura Farver)
Sam, a gifted but down and out artist, answers a mysterious job offer. After a less-than-conventional interview with the program head Al, he soon finds himself living and working for Project Perception, an underground artist colony for which (to his surprise) the United States government signs the check. Along the way he meets Heather, a veteran member of the group whose sexual mystique and headstrong confidence both enamor Sam and ultimately reveal to him the horror of his situation. Rife with satire, sex, and politics, Project Perception imagines a government sponsored and highly top secret left-wing society that uses guerilla tactics to proliferate art into a main stream driven by perception and sensation. Their goal is truth. Their consequences are questionable. For more info on Wendell Theater Group, please visit our website : http://www.duke.edu/web/wendell/
