Get involved with WiSE!
The WiSE Planning Committee
The Planning Committee (PC) is a volunteer group that serves as the executive board for WiSE. It's primary function is to help the WiSE Programmer brainstorm events. Members also help out with some event set up and tear down.
WiSE needs your help! We're always looking for new ideas, and the time commitment is minimal, so please join our planning committee! We meet ~twice a semester in addition to helping set up events (flexible). Contact the Program Coordinator or the PC Co-Chair for more information and to get on the wise-pc mailing list.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Attending the committee meetings which typically occur twice per semester and once during the summer
- Attend WiSE events on a regular basis
- Suggesting program ideas and giving the programmer good guidance
- Helping set up and tear down events (flexible)
- Overseeing the proper spending of the WiSE budget
- Fundraising when necessary
- Ensuring that the organization runs and events happen
- Assisting the Programmer as needed
- Being aware of the needs and wants of women graduate students in engineering and the sciences
- Ensure the PC is a representative body of the various disciplines in engineering and the sciences
- Recruiting new members for the PC as needed
The Chair is the only official position on the PC, although there may be times when there are Co-Chairs. In addition other positions may be created on an ad-hoc basis as needed such as Web Mistress or Chair/Co-Chairs for the WiSE reading group.
