Making a Gift to the Program

Under the leadership of founding program director Jean Fox O'Barr, Women's Studies met the goals initially established for it by the College of Arts and Sciences for the 2003 Campaign for Duke. Our many thanks to the various contributors who helped us to increase our teaching, general, and graduate fellowship endowments. Special thanks go to Margaret Taylor Smith for endowing the Program Directorship, Lisa Yun Lee and her husband Mark Ewing for endowing the Jean O'Barr Chair in Interdisciplinary Feminist Studies.

As we look to the future, we hope to continue to build the general endowment, which provides discretionary funds for all aspects of the program's educational mission. We also have special need for funding to support:

  1. Post Doctoral Fellowships, for scholars in a variety of fields to spend a year at Duke to develop their research agendas and contribute innovative courses to the Program.
  2. Graduate Dissertation Fellowships, for year long funding for the completion of highly interdisciplinary doctoral work on gender.
  3. Student Writing and Research Awards, to support research and travel and to recognize the scholarly achievements of both undergraduate and graduate student work.

Contributions to the Women's Studies Program by check can be mailed to Women's Studies Program (attn: Erin Norris, ehathaw@duke.edu), 210 East Building, Box 90760, Durham, NC 27708. Credit card gifts can be made on-line at Duke's secure credit card site. Please remember to specify Women's Studies in the section marked Additional/Other Designations.
