Women's Studies offers a number of Graduate Instructor positions, Teaching Assistantships and Research Assistantships each year.

Graduate Instructors
Graduate Instructors will teach various lower division and selected topics courses in the undergraduate Women's Studies curriculum (WST 120 and 150). These courses are interdisciplinary in nature, and must integrate gender, race, class, and sexuality. The current salary for one course is $5,000. Most graduate instructor positions are awarded to advanced graduate students with significant teaching experience.

In general, We are interested in courses that can be cross listed with other interdisciplinary units, such as Sexuality Studies, Film and Video, African and African American Studies, Latino Studies, Renaissance and Medieval Studies, AALL, etc. We seek courses that will draw students to Women's Studies; expand their understanding of the interconnections among gender, race, sexuality, nationality, and class; and fulfill general requirements in University Curriculum. Course proposals that can be designated as Writing (W) and those in the following areas are preferred:

  • gender and economic systems;

  • health and medicine

  • law and public policy

  • cross-cultural analysis (e.g. Women in the Islamic World)

  • ethics

  • science and technology

  • sexuality studies

In addition, Women's Studies encourages course proposals that emphasize service learning.
