Dormeno String Quartet of Duke University


The Dormeno String Quartet was formed in the fall of 2003 at Duke University. It is coached by professor and cellist of the Ciompi Quartet, Fred Raimi.


The Members of Dormeno



Rahul Satija is a sophomore from Potomac, Maryland. He is majoring in Biology and Music and minoring in Computer Science. He studies violin with Eric Pritchard and is concertmaster of the Duke Symphony Orchestra and is active in the chamber music ensemble directed by Jane Hawkins. He is an AJ Fletcher Scholar at Duke University and was a winner of the 2003 Durham Symphony Concerto Competition.


Anna Wu is a freshman from Cincinnati, Ohio. She is considering a career in medicine, but has yet to decide on a major. Anna plays in the Duke Symphony Orchestra and is a member of the chamber music ensemble. During high school, Anna was a member of the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Interlochen All-State Orchestra. She has served as the program director at the Taiwanese American Foundation summer conference and enjoys photography.

Francesca Polvere is a Freshman from Boston, Massachusetts. She is doing Pre-Med work at Duke university, but plans to major in English and minor in Music. She studies viola with Jonathan Bagg and is a member of the chamber music ensemble directed by Fred Raimi. In high school, she played in the New England Conservatory's Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and Chamber Music Program. Francesca is also an avid martial artist and plans a career in cosmetic dentistry.

Christoph Erbsloeh is from Berlin, Germany. He is a junior exchange student majoring in Political Science with minors in History and Economics. Christoph studies cello with Fred Raimi and is the principal cellist of the Duke Symphony Orchestra. He is also active in the chamber music ensemble directed by Jane Hawkins. Christoph was a member of the German Peace Service and served in New York City with Holocaust survivors for 18 months. Columbia University graduate students in journalism recorded a documentary featuring Christoph’s friendship with a Polish Holocaust survivor while he was living in New York City.
