About Me
My name is Alexander (Alex) Keybl. I’m currently a sophomore at Pratt, and I’m working on a double major with ECE and CS. I’m from northern Virginia just outside of Washington, D.C. in Reston. In my free time I like to play basketball and run, as well as mess around on the computer. That can range from programming to playing games and just surfing the internet.
Computer Experience
I started using the computer when I was really young, way before I can remember. I believe that the first computer I used had an Intel 486 processor. I’ve used all three major operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, and Linux). I use computers daily, like earlier mentioned, for both work and play. Growing up with computers all around me and in the house got me interested in C.S. at an early age. I started programming when I was in 6th or 7th grade.
In my opinion, what a computer scientist does in his daily job really depends on their focus. Working at the Naval Research Laboratory, I’ve seen computer scientists doing a lot of research type work, while I also know that many computer scientists end up going into fields such as software development. In the future, I’d like to use computers as more than a tool in my other major, electrical and computer engineering.
