BORDER COLLIES IN HERDING

Why are Border Collies the Premier Herding Dog?

Border Collies have been bred for centuries to bring the toughest sheep off the roughest terrain. No other breed retains the gathering instinct as do Border Collies.  Due to their keenness to work, and strong desire to please, they are easily trained to become a useful partner and stockdog.

The Border Collie breed arose through selection for a particular creeping, keen-eyed, intimidating style of work.  The Border Collie is the ultimate herding dog because it is defined by its work, its standard is its ability and style of moving stock.
