If the Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains unresolved, the future only holds more violence and hatred. In the situation as it stands now, neither side really understands the other and its intentions. In order to do this, Israelis and Palestinians must change some
deeply ingrained habits of thinking about one another. Before each side can understand each other they must first apologize and reconcile.
Israelis should extend an apology to the Palestinians for
their
abuse of Palestinian human rights, while Palestinians should apologize to the Israelis for their acts of violence against Jews. This is the first step to understanding and reaching a goal together peacefully. Once these apologies are truly accepted, the two groups can move on, recognizing the other's rights and religions and accepting them. From there, they can begin to work together to accomplish peace by
consensus, and examining the larger issue of belonging to a place and existing with people of different backgrounds and cultures who all believe they belong in the same place.
