Research Interests
I am particularly drawn to the broader unresolved issues in New Testament studies: the relationship of the early faith to its Jewish roots (especially in Paul), the use of the OT in the NT, and the unity of the testaments (both together and individually). Approaching these issues through the detailed analysis of (often problematic) texts, my work typically utilizes the standard tools of historical-critical exegesis, literary/narrative theory, and the growing sociological field of collective memory studies, particularly as it relates to the function of texts and allusions within a community. I also seek to remain sensitive to the theological implications of the results.
