Jabberwock-ed

Beware of the MCAT my son,
the chem that gropes,
the bile that graves!
Beware it's Orgo/Bio bite
And the essays that frolic in it's labes.

So out he went, that brillig day,
to mar the MCAT's gruesome bit,
and struck he did with Vorpal tip
A #2 did win his way.

And he came back, Kalloo! Kalay!
Defeated he that fearsome wight
He knew of Physics, lights and rays
And verily did win that fight.

(And there was much rejoicing)

A Reckoning, I Reckon

Man, so things come to a head. MCAT's tomorrow, and if you've been talking to me at all this Summer you know I've had little to no life because of it. I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen Kate, or Blair. I don't even need a hand for the number of times I saw Blatt (though, that's his fault for being in GT... bastard.) On the other hand, it'd take a TI to figure out how many hours I wasted on this test. Stupid test. Well, it's all over tomorrow around 4. I've gotta wake up at a quarter 'til seven... which has lead to a slow alteration of my normal sleep schedule. Then, test starts at 8:00AM in UC - goes until 4:00PM. Of Sunday.

Nah, that's bullshit, sorry. Anyways, on to happier things. My watch, a relic from the sixth grade and a constant companion throughout my adventures, has been relegated to a wrist up in the sky. Somewhere, I imagine Jesus is wearing that watch, and perhaps wondering, "Damn this watch is shitty." or, also possibly, "Damn... this watch is witchery! Begone foul Satan!" In my head, it's about a 50/50 chance. It's been replaced by a new, state of the art, cheap plastic watch from Timex. It's actually not, say, dirt cheap. But it's much cheaper than a nice watch would be. I wear it proudly now, for it has a neat-o green sheen. I suspect it will bring me good luck and perhaps super powers. Whichever seems more appropriate at the time.

So, here's some tidbits for everyone to enjoy (courtesy of Eileen and Jonathon) while I fill in small circular bubbles (damn you bubbles!) Firstly, did you know Cuba is filled with athletic sex machines? Well you do now my friend. You do now. Also, for those of you who gamble, but refuse to play D&D sans alcohol, I present this comic as evidence. Yes, Mike. I do mean you. You Trekkie. *cackle*

Oh, and one last thing for everyone to ponder over: in your opinion, what sound does a vorpal sword (Successful Critical Hit = Removal of Head. See Also: A Munchkin's Favorite Weapon; Red Mage's Sexual Fantasy) make? Just put it up on the tagboard, and then check this out, for the sake of my own sense of completion.

That's that. Now - gods of MCAT! Grant me power!

Process

Ah, schnapp! Bet this caught you by surprise. Hell, I think I caught myself by surprise with a new comic. But, thanks to Laura's gift of a tablet, I can churn these things out like so much digital ink.

Now, I know many of you must sit around and think to yourselves, "Wow, how does Camilo make his comics?" So here goes: a new layer called Rough where I draw out what I want in light blue. I toss a layer on top of that where I make the actual neat black lines, and color in there. I also make sure the panels can be nicely divided. The text bubbles are rounded rectangles about 50% transparent, and the text is Akbar. Coloring... I've got a preset pallette and use the fill tool, plus the pen to make details like "shadowing" (like I've ever actually done that) and "fingers" (Ooooh yeah, I'm good).

As for the script writing, I was reading a bit by Bill Waterson (Calvin and Hobbes) and he said he'd write down an idea, cull it into a palatable form, and even then discard it if it wasn't up to snuff. I try to emulate that, but instead end up sitting around doing MCAT, Gemstone, and AIM... then I think of something, draw it, and write it. Then I post it up here, and laugh by myself. It's rather sad. But as long as I'm laughing, I can laugh at all of you - 'cause laughter is healthy. So I'm just making myself healthier while screwing the lot of ya. *cackle!*

Now... have any of you seen the Aqua Teen Hunger Force? It's the most bizzarre show, and it's being cancelled from Adult Swim for some reason. But it's great. Awfully addictive, but something about Frylock, Master Shake, and Meatwad living in a suburban neighborhood where they're attacked by bird-flipping Moonenites... it's like an acid trip with food.

Oh, and on a more somber note: I'm Rick James Bitch!

Guess What I've Got!

So, here I am sitting around, studying MCAT. And lo - a package! From a Laura in Georgia Tech. Well, upon opening it up (and studying more MCAT) I found a tablet! I can draw in photoshop now! Well, as it turns out there was a massive conspiracy between Laura, my brother, and to some extent my parents and Lisa. I still don't know the specifics, but the outcome is quite wonderful. Note, as promised, the pad has allowed me to make comics, quickly and without needing to scan! Yay! I think, in order to understand why this comic exists, you need to have studied the MCAT for an entire Summer.

I think there's little new to mention. I recommend this comic for some insight into Link's future. Personally, I think he could go into vandalism, or armed robbery. Everything he breaks is filled with rupees after all. If I could do that, I think we could expect a lot of broken mailboxes, and chopped trees. I also would chase pigs, on the off chance that might do something. Also, just as a quick recommendation: I enjoyed the Bourne Supremacy, I, Robot, and The Manchurian Candidate. All of them were very enjoyable. Next - The Village and Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. So far, I've got higher hopes for the latter. But we'll have to see.

A Moment from Duke

That is to say, I'm in Concord, NC - about an hour South of Duke, or so I'm told (I suspect it's closer to 2). Has much happened since my last update? Not of interest to you folk. I've Mastered Voln in GSIV, which is quite certainly the most pointless bit of knowledge I could pass your way. I've also watched Catwoman, I,Robot, and Bourne Supremacy - which may even get reviewed, to some extent. I've begun volunteering at another hospital, as per last Summer. I've started to miss Duke, too, though I imagine that's somewhat normal this late in the Summer.

Lessee... oh, so it appears the D&D group at Duke may in fact have an insurgence of new person. I guess the group has the benefit of staying slightly in flux every year. I think I've got enough material to last us the rest of the year, though I may have to alter some of it depending how many come to each session. Time for some more improvisation/guesswork! I think I've managed to take several player suggestions into account. Of course, that sometimes ends badly, but I think I've done alright with this one. Only one way to find out, so if you're reading this... PLAY! ASAP. *grin*

Of course, the biggest thing to happen since my last entry was a 6 day trip to Georgia, for purposes of Laura. As you can see, I've been busy. Well, aside from chilling time, there were also smoothies, glow in the dark things, the Vortex, and weird people (though nice enough) at GT. There was also a certain amount of what I like to call "getting lost." But it was fun anyways, so it wasn't a big deal 't'all. I also jumped onto some subway tracks, along with another fella, to help a guy on a wheelchair who'd fallen down. It's true! Though, slightly hard to believe.

Karaoke Revolutions 2 is now in my possession as well, and has provided many hours of group singing already. Also, there appears to be a Karaoke game for the XBox, but its just straight Karaoke, so not quite as enjoyable. Speaking of Karaoke, there was a trip to DC just after Sanibel which has yet to be mentioned. It involved seeing Laura, Eileen, and Geoff (yay!) and also some karaoke. The actual purpose? Well, some family friends were having a party of sorts. The husband had a surprise 25 year anniversary party for his wife, including restaurant dinner and lunch, hotel, guests' hotel, and a trip to NYC after the trip to DC. And she was completely clueless about the whole thing. I thought it was actually pretty touching. I also got to see Darsh and Dev - my original RPing crew, including my bro. Not D&D per se, but it was RPGing nonetheless... even if it was pretty hack and slash oriented. And the stories were ridiculously dumb. But! It was our first RPG, and it was homebrewed. None too shabby, if I do say so myself.

Let's see... what else is there to say... oh, right. MCAT is horrible, and I have comics ready for the scanning. These things shall be done soon. But I've been out so often, they haven't been done yet. But soon isn't yet, though yet soon passed. So, you'll have to wait for soon to pass, which isn't yet for some time.

Ah, time to go. Adios!

A Real Beach

Well, I'm at Sanibel Island! As per my post. I didn't think I'd be able to update, but who knew. I can! So, now you get to hear about what I've done. To begin with, I've gotten started on a quick set of three comics of quasi-continuity which I find to be funny. Though, my sense of humor sometimes stands alone. A hazard of the profession I guess. Hopefully, I'll be done drawing the three comics so that I can have a series of comics that ends quickly before everyone forgets how it started. It could be a Duck-First!

Other'n that, I've been playing Tennis, going to the beach, and driving. 'cause it's a 16 hour drive to get here. And we weren't going to shell out the money for a plane. My schedule has proved a surprising aid in the drive, too. Since I'm up til 4am, I drove til 3 or so without any problem. Everyone else slept, of course. And we made it to Jacksonville in one day - from 4pm to 3am. I only drove the last three hours, the rest of the time was sleep, read, and Gameboy. I nabbed my second game in honor of the occasion - I now own the Sequel to Secret of Mana on GBA. Its a good, Secret of Mana style game. my only real issue is that the bosses are painfully easy. I kill them in about 10 seconds using just a few powered up sword blows. Granted, I don't know how far I am in the game - it's entirely possible that it gets much harder.

That was a brief review of the game. And it's all you're getting! *shake fist* However, you may get a Spiderman 2 review soon, because that movie kicks serious arse. And now there's 3 or four more possibilities for the next set of movies! There's no limit to where it can go. I would expect all the actors to stay in of course. Otherwise I will shun them forever. Keep making Spiderman movies, or pay the price!

Ah, and I hope you all had a great Fourth of July. I did a patriotic thing at the time, I went and saw Fahrenheit 9/11! Yup, I still hate Bush. I can't say it made me hate him more, really. Though it did make me suspect he's even more incapable as a President than I at first believed. I also recommend this movie, though not as much as I recommend Spiderman 2. Which was frickin' awesome. And had a Bruce Campbell cameo!

And on that note... we cue the music.

The One That Got Away

This's gonna be a juicy post, though none of it is of my own creation (None of the juice, that is). We'll begin with some random links - my internet informant has been busy and unable to comply as of yet. So, here's my own addition to that genre of linkitude. Firstly, if you like Harry Potter, you'll probably enjoy Kill Harry (Vol. 1). It'll help tremendously to also have seen Kill Bill. It's good art, and a pretty funny combination, all in all. Notice the slight Great Gatsby/ Simpsons reference in part 1! Interested in something else to check out on the internet, you say? Well, fear not - I, and the odd people we call our Northern Brothers, have provided! Who knew they'd ever make a musical out of this? Don't forget to play the game! One last bit, for all you coffee lovers out there. Also check out the next comic there, it's along the same vein.

So, other'n that I happen to have updated the pictures section. With what? Well, firstly you'll notice I now have Crabs. Laura gave'm to me. Also, check out the wonder that is the giant blue and green dragon me and Laura won at Busch Gardens. The key to winning it? Getting a cool guy that told us the key to winning. Not that he did. Nope. But if he had, for some reason, crushed the ball in his hand. It might've given us a hint. I should add that Busch Gardens was a ton of fun. I loves me some roller coasters. Especially the first fall. Zero gravity is a lot of fun.

Which brings me to a question! If you could go to space, would you? I mean, I've always assumed that it'd be almost a given. Unless something was keeping you on Earth, everyone would go! But alas, I was proven wrong. My own brother would not go into space. Crazy shit. So, tag it up! (And vote for me, despite the lack of newcomics at the moment)

Next week we travel to wonderful Sanibel, Florida - the real beginning of my comics last year, if you think about it carefully. So, I'll come back with at least one or two made. And, I'll do my best to put up the Harry Potter ones this week. They'd go well with the Kill Harry, I think.

As for my own week, can someone recommend anything for AAing Memories (by Naoki)? It's rather important that I beat Mills score on Naoki Neo-Standard. Well, not really. But it gives me a DDR goal to attain on the new machine in Charleston. I did mention there's a machine here right? If you live nearby, you should make the trek on down. One dollar for five songs, with the possibility of an Extra Stage. Currently there's two or three people playing on the machine with any regularity at all. I'm the worst. Which isn't saying I'm bad, on the contrary I think I'm decent at the game. But I would like to get better. After Memories, Cartoon Heroes shall be my goal! *cackle!*

And then I'll rule the world.

The Day is Nigh

Let it be known henceforth that at the Mall that is Kanawha, in the realm of the Power Play... there now lies a machine that sends forth techno and J-Pop to the masses, lulling them into it's devious embrace. DDR arrives in Charleston! By Jebus... it's about time. I was ready to start hitting the Barboursville mall! The mix is a new one I'd not seen before, but it seems to have the same songs as DDR Extreme. At the same time, though, it seems to be newer. Perhaps a release under a different name so that there weren't so few machines.

Mike's package, by the way, has released its brood. I've started in on Record of Lodoss War - a D&D style anime, that is very old school seeming. One thing troubles me: I've realized that I once watched anime. Back in my childhood, during Nick Jr... there was a show... it showed fairy tales, but it had a very odd animation. Now... I know. It was anime style animation! Or at least, Lodoss War style animation. I wanted to cry. But then I realized that I was enjoying the anime. So it's okay, though slightly disheartening. I guess I'm trapped. Also, I'm saddened more by the fact that Lodoss War... confused gnolls with kobolds. *cry*

I'm also heading to Williamsburg! So, gone til Sunday. As for the things I'd said last post. It's been a busy week, so unfortunately I've had no chance to draw those comics I'd promised. But, they'll arrive. That I can assure you. And I don't mean this like I did the E3 thing last Summer. This will arrive next week. Forsooth.

I've also acquired an informant, someone in the very midst of the internet to whom its passages are open. He'll be giving us links, though the exact method remains obscure at the moment.

Take Two!

This here's what I call a continuation! So, as I was saying, I've been asked to be a best man in a virtual wedding. (Talk about some difficulties with planning the bachelor party. I wonder if the strippers are NPC'ed...) The two characters seem pretty close in game, which might lead me to believe they're close out of game. In which case, as I was saying it's merely an idiosyncrasy, albeit a dorky one. So, I'm the best man - clearly a fittin job for a suave Faendryl like Dhymil DeVeracacer.

So, aside from a brief trip to Ohio, not much new is going on here. I'll work on coloring a new comic for, hopefully, today. Next week, I have plans for a week of Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban comics. You might have to see the movie to get them, but I promise that the joke will be a little funny on its own. It won't require any level of knowledge about Potter, of course.

In fact, I'd like to point you to a complete book-to-movie review of HP:PoA from Colorado's very own Starlight. Many thanks go out to her for providing the first GUEST REVIEW! (Yay!) She knows much, and thoroughly displays her wisdom. So, partake of the fruit that is the addition to the review. That's not the only link I've got though! Check out the newest Goats comic, complete with a great new shirt! Also, enjoy the newest MacHall comic - especially for any of you being annoyed by the Cicadas that seem to enjoy this time of the year. Ah! And don't forget to vote! There are comics again, you should vote for me. It's only right.

ADDENDUM: It's only 4:22AM... but the comic is done! Go check it out, if you please. And vote for me!

Interspecies Wedding!

So, wouldn't you know it... I've been playing Gemstone, right? And now I've been asked to be the best man in an in-game wedding between Emoth, a Human Mage, and Saredhel, a Sylvan Healer. I have no idea who these two are in real life, I don't even know if their relationship is just in game. The whole idea of a wedding in a video game striked me as a bit unusual. Mind you, if they're in a relationship in real life, then it's just a dorky way of showing how much you like the other person. I'll probably rant a bit more on this later...

In more interesting news, a short and moderatly unexpected trip to Cleveland!

Zig Heil Bush!

Looking for something to make your day? It'll instill pride in your country and your President! Or, it'll make you wonder what the point of an international law is if those in control of those nations don't have to abide by them. I can imagine the outrage if anyone had even considered doing this to an American (and rightfully so). I wonder why it ceases to apply to others. Curiouser and curiouser. Well, enjoy the article: word comes from she of the butterflies: Coleoptera.

Otherwise - the day's been pretty uneventful. Unless you want me to go over some Energy and Heat Laws from my MCAT studies. But then, I assume that's not a popular topic. So, I bid thee adieu!

The Sound of Inevitability

There have been a surprising number of inevitable events that I no longer think I can ignore. I've been re-reading Edding's "Belgariad" series of books, involving a Prophecy that sets into motion a series of events that are inevitable and unavoidable. And then, everything came down.

I'm sure you all noticed that I mentioned reading all the Potter novels. Damn... they were actually good. In particular the last two. So, there I went, further into the dark side. Now I knew at leas the basics about Harry Potter. And then I saw the third movie. And, if you check out the review you'll notice that I had issues with the inconsistencies between the book and movie. Now, some would say this was normal - I would say this is dorky. Oh well.

Then I rented Spirited Away, for which you can also check out a review. It's anime, yup. But it was really good. Curses! More inevitable movement to the dark side. Then Molesquirrel offered to loan me some anime from his extensive collection. So, now I'm gratefully acquiring a cache of anime the likes of which I've never seen. Further and further I slip.

As though that weren't entirely enough, I'm seeing if I can get a D&D campaign started over the Summer. It's a slippery slope! I can't help it. Fortunately, I can still make fun of these things on here. And as long as I know I have a problem, perhaps I can fix it (not that I want to anyways, heh). In the meantime, the jokes sorta continue in another comic. Notice the label on the bat? It's hard to read, but that's what I get for poor planning. *grin* Hopefully the continuous updates are as inevitable as watching anime.

It Finally Happened!

I finally scanned in a comic again! You'll note an apology has also been added. I could've SWORN I'd already put it up, but apparently I'd just drawn it and left it as a reserve for when I returned (which I knew would be eventually). This comic continues the Rave series those of you who remember looking at my comics last year have come to dread. On the other hand, you'll be happy to know that a drawing pad is being looked at for the PC, and that I already have two more comics done and a third one on its way. All hail! And vote for me at Buzz Comix. It is back, merely follow the link at the bottom! It's that easy! I'll soon start scanning random doodles into there so you can make fun of my severely lacking drawing skills. Enjoy!

Ciro, the tennis pro, has returned form Colombia to whip us Charleston tennis players into shape. I intend to be fit by the end of this Summer, goddammit, and body willing (the will is strong but the flesh is weak) I will be. I hope to see Harry Potter soon, too, what with having read the books and enjoyed them. Curse you JK Rowling for drawing me further into the web of loserdom!

On a similar note, I've rented Spirited Away. *sigh*

Threesome Rumors

So, firstly check out the delightful tagboard on the right (post there damn you! Or... I'll... kill a kitten or something, you've been warned *squint*). You'll notice one Grace Ha has mentioned that the Bassett rumors included threesomes between her, Whit and Katie in MY room. I, however, was left unmentioned. Deeply wounding me, I might add. I mean, sure I wouldn't have been involved in the threesome. That should be clear. But, I certainly would've been filming it, and selling it here (Seriously, right there). In particular, it's been said that I would willingly be sexiled from my own (single) room. Which I vehemently deny. But apparently the rumors that abounded my Freshman dorm suggest that I would. *sigh*

Well, aside from that I've now seen Shrek 2 and reviewed it. It was enjoyable, and I've decided that Antonio Banderas has by far the coolest voice of anyone alive right now. I bet if I talked like that, the rumors in Bassett would've been very different... *shake fist* Other'n that, I've done little. I'm intending to acquire a DDR computer adaptor so I can play some new songs without a machine. Ah, and a new DDR pad. All of mine have been killed by constant use in the RT Commons. I have discovered the possibility of a machine in Huntington, and as I may be working near the mall there, I may have to check it out.

Will Save vs. Propaganda!

Sometimes I think the only thing that can make me angrier than stupid people is stupid people who blatantly make shit up. So, I present here for your perusal, once more, a cartoon by Chick and a parody of the same. Dumb bastard. On the plus side, found an article about many of his claims, along with the claims of other wonderfully annoying groups, that finally gives me some actual facts. It's a bit dense, but feel free to skim, or check out the short forum topic on it. So, yeah, I'm a dork. But a well informed one, at least!

I think, tomorrow I should be able to do the comics. I'm hoping for a digital drawing pad soon as an early b-day present so I can get used to it before the school year starts. Then I'll hopefully be able to make comics along with doing homework. And then, world conquest! Bwahahahaha!

Until then, I've drawn them and will scan soon. Today, instead, I went and saw Tuesday... also known as The Day After Tomorrow. Good movie, obviously by the same guy as Independence Day and it had some really ridiculous moments... but it also had some really funny moments, and was generally exciting. Check out the review for the whole spiel.

Here's a set of more interesting links for everyone - Mario videos of dramatic proportions courtesy of an old Penny Arcade news post. There's four of them, so feel free to scroll through the lot of them for some interesting tidbits. They're quite interesting, actually. Enjoy!

Wha? Where Am I?

No, this entry isn't about me getting high and entering a world of whimsy and delight. (Well, maybe whimsy...) No! Wait, I mean... this's just the first update in a long time. Why? Well, busy semester I suppose. Didn't have the time to update, or draw... but no longer! I now have in my hands the power to update and draw once more! In fact, I've got 3... maybe four comics to put up already. Soon as I reattach the scanner to my computer, we're set to go. I think I'll start slow today though - stick to reviewing some things.

So, I was in Spain. We claimed a few castles, made our way around to seeing the city of Caceres (and the location of our new castles), Madrid, Sevilla, Cordoba, Malaga, Granada, Segovia, Trujillo... and maybe one or two others. But that's the general jist of it. It was fun, exciting, and filled with whimsy (but not necessarily wonder). Also, I watched the movie of Bubba Ho-Tep with Bruce Campbell as "The King." Hence the quote above, which though more vulgar than most of my quotes... feck off. It's my site. Bwahaha! This movie, by the way, taught me an important lesson. Or, more exactly, a hope for the future: May I never consider an erection something that makes my day.

In other news, does anyone know a "Stealth Ninja," perhaps one who frequents the site So What You Suck? They sent me a card, and asked me to guess. I intend, therefore, to ferret them out using my squad of elite spies and minions... that is, readers. Yes, readers.

Such a short update, considering its been several months since the last post (check out the "hidden" archives to find the old posts). But that's the way it's going to be. I will continue to update, though, and fill your lives with both whimsy and delight.
