Ravi Bansal is an Associate Professor (with tenure) of Finance and Economics at the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University. Professor Bansal obtained his doctorate from Carnegie Mellon University in September 1990. He obtained his economics undergraduate and masters degrees from University of Delhi, New Delhi, India. He joined the faculty at Fuqua in 1990. Currently he serves on the editorial board of Journal of Securities Markets.
Professor Bansal teaches the Finance Ph.D seminar (BA 551) and Economic Environment of the Firm (BA 301). He also teaches in the WEMBA and Executive Programs at Fuqua.
Professor Bansal's research focus is to explain the behavior of asset prices. His research develops new models that econometrically explain the observed behavior of asset prices. His papers have been published in leading journals such as Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Finance ,Review of Financial Studies , Journal of Econometrics , and Macroeconomics Dynamics . The focus of his current research is to explain the behavior of asset returns of emerging economics, develop practical methods for tactical asset allocation, develop and estimate models of non-defaultable and defaultable bonds, and develop models to explain exchange rate and term- structure dynamics across countries.
