S. Viswanathan

S. "Vish" Viswanathan is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University. He teaches Corporate Finance, Advanced Corporate Finance and Corporate Restructuring. He is also involved in teaching Fuqua's Executive Education Programs. During 1996-97, Professor Viswanathan is visiting the Wharton School.

Professor Viswanathan has a Bachelor's degree in science (First Class with Distinction) from the University of Bombay; a Master of Management Studies degree from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies at the University of Bombay and a Ph.D. in Finance from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

His research focuses on the structure of financial markets and corporate finance. His recent research focuses on why firms hedge and on the structure and competitive nature of various international stock markets. Professor Viswanathan's research has been published in the Journal of Finance, the Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and the Journal of Business.

Professor Viswanathan received the Outstanding Faculty Award at the Fuqua School of Business in 1994. In addition, he has received a grant the Institute for Quantitative Research in Finance.
