My Computer Science Autobiography

- The first computer I can remember using was an Apple Macintosh just before Windows 95 was released.

- Other computers I have used…Generally Gateways and Dells that have run Windows 95, 98, XP, and Vista. Oh, and obviously some work on Macs in the last few years thrown in there, too.

- On a daily basis, I use computers for work, play, and anything in between.

- Blackboard, ACES, email, news, crosswords, facebook, Wikipedia, eRecruiting, and probably more things I’m not remembering.

- That also depends a whole lot on how you define a computer. My microwave and car wouldn’t work without computers, either.

- I imagine that it is hard to define what the average computer scientist does on a daily basis. He or she could easily be creating a computer game, programming a Mars exploration robot, making iPhone apps, or teaching me in class.

- They only reinforce and expand my initial impression of the wide range of possible applications for computer science knowledge. Hopefully, in a few years, I will be practicing law but have at least a respectable knowledge of computer science.

- I don’t have any idea what sorts of programs I would like to write just yet. I enjoyed writing simple java games in CompSci 004 a year ago, but would love to take on more challenging assignments, too.

- I honestly don’t know how I see myself using computers in the future. However, I want to gain a greater understanding of the simple programming principles behind many of the tools that I use daily. Also, almost no matter what, I WILL be using computers no matter what I do for a living.
