Personal

Thanks for stopping by my site.  In addition to my academic pursuits, I have a number of personal interests.  Foremost among these are my three children, Rhianna, Austin, and Nathan.  They are all three intelligent, sensitive, beautiful people, and I am proud and privileged to be their dad. 

I am also a long-distance runner, having completed 4 marathons to date: Houston (1999 and 2000), Richmond (2005), and the NC Outer Banks (2006).  My personal record was set at Richmond where I ran a 3:17:21, but I think I have a 3:15:00 in me!  I am planning to run Raleigh (2007) and perhaps Boston (2008).  In the mean time, I continue to run and laugh with the Cardinal Track Club based in Carrboro NC. 

 I am a huge music fan (live or recorded) and even play drums and a little guitar myself.  I enjoy cooking -- Thai Curry being my specialty, and I do some creative writing.  If you click on the link below, you can read a short story I wrote about a nutty experience I had walking across the campus of Texas A&M University one night several years ago.
