Black Walnut (Juglans nigra)

An uncommon large tree of bottomland forests, familiar for its edible nuts and valuable wood. The long, pinnately compound leaves and the large, green-husked, ball-shaped fruits are distinctively fragrant.

Black Walnut (Juglans nigra) The bark is very dark and rough.
