Early Lowbush Blueberry (Vaccinium pallidum)

A common small blueberry of xeric sites that blooms in mid-April, Vaccinium pallidum has glabrous (smooth) twigs and the leaves are glaucous (whitish beneath). Formerly known as Vaccinium vacillans.

Similar to V. tenellum, which is more common in the Coastal Plain, but V. tenellum has densely pubescent twigs and green leaf undersides with red stipitate glands.
