Debbie's Diversions

Hi! I'm Debbie Suggs

Personal information

I was born Debrah Alice Dodgens but changed names when I married Mark Suggs in 1990 and we have been together since. We live in Durham, North Carolina and are both Christians who love the Lord and regularly attend Northern Free Will Baptist Church where I'm the pianist and choir director.

I'm interested in a few hobbies, namely growing roses and collecting Snow Village houses and accessories. Both of those passions have wained a bit since I started playing golf. We play most often at Lakewinds. I'm not great but not awful, either.

We have one son, Anthony, a talented musician who keeps us entertained constantly. He recently appeared as Enjolras in the Cresset Christian Academy production of Les Miserables where he also attends school. In addition, Anthony plays second violin in the Durham Youth Orchestra. Finally, he is also a guitarist in the Cresset Christian Academy praise band.

Professional information

I am currently employed at Duke University. I work in the Office of Information Technology and am a Macintosh Senior Systems Administrator. Most of the servers I support are used for the DukeCapture system (an automated lecture recording and media content delivery service).

I've been working at Duke for 20 years. I started as a Data Entry Clerk, meandered over to Perkins Library where I began providing computer support to the Library, and eventually joined OIT as a Macintosh Specialist. If you want to know more about my work experience then take a look at my resume.

I am the coauthor of three books: The Mac OS 8.5 Black Book, The Mac OS 9.1 Black Book, and the Mac OS X Black Book.
