The Type: Suction Aspiration, this is the most common type of abortion.
When is this performed? This procedure is performed within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. This is also known as the first trimester.
The Procedure: this procedure is performed by inserting a suction curette into the womb. A suction curette is a hollow tube with a sharp point on the tip. The curette is attached to a vacuum that has up to 29 times more suction capacity than a houshold vacuum. the vacuum is turned on sucking the fetus through the tube by tearing it into smaller pieces. The remaining pieces are then discarded.

The Type: Saline injection
When is this performed? Used after 16 weeks of pregnancy well into the second trimester.
The Procedure: A long needle is used to inject a strong saline solution into the baby's sac. Once swallowed, it acts as poison to the baby, what it doesn't swallow remains in the sac burning off the baby's top layer of skin. Within 24 hours the mother will go into labor giving birth to a dead baby, although there has been cases of babies being born alive and actually dying outside the womb. In very rare occasions the baby has actually survived and been adopted.
