This will be a revolving collection of family photos dating back to a picture of the first two members of the family to enter the U.S. of A.

The Singing Sisters, two girls on the vaudeville circuit who entered the U.S. from Canada. (And this country hasn't been able to get rid of us yet!) Marie Heclow and Maude Duval were really beautiful then. .

OK, now's your chance . . .YES, that"s ME! (After all, this IS my page.) Here I am, showing an early penchant for literary interests. (Probably wondering why "Dilbert" isn't in the comics yet.) This is on the front porch of my grandparent's house in New Smyrna, Fla. circa 1948.

This is my all time favorite photo of my parents. This was Columbia, S.C. December 26, 1941. Several weeks after Pearl Harbor and these guys are so in love they still haven't heard the news yet. Look at my father strut! A couple of months later Dad was involved in one of the more interesting periods of his life, working as a hard-hat salvage diver raising the burned and capsized French liner Normandie in New York City Harbor.

Here's Sgt. Dad a little later in the scenario, and in my estimation a true American hero. No, he didn't blow up a Tiger tank or shoot down a Japanese Zero with his .45. Just like a lot of other guys he went and did his duty and then came home to the woman he was crazy in love with and did the best he could for his family. That spells hero in my book.

Grandpa Eddie Welch. Why is this man dressed this way and smiling? Grandpa Eddie was a stuntman and charactor actor in Hollywood during the "silent era" and the early talkies. This was one of his promo photos, you'll see a lot more of this guy if you return here. Although I'm not too well versed on his career I can tell you he did stunt work on "The Lost World" and the Lon Chaney version of "The Hunch Back of Notre Dame".

And to prove my point, here's the man himself doing a stunt in one of the films, (unknown which), he worked in. He's leaping off the wall into a large earthen jar to hide from the "badguys" somewhere in the Sudan area. (Burbank probably)

Well, that's it for this installment, hope you liked it and will want to see more.
Next update, next month.

Ho-hum, gosh Al, where did the time go . . .we have to get up early and . . . .
