I'm glad I had convinced myself, for the work was long, hard
and often tedious. A LOT of sanding and filling and painting and
replacing. About a third of a bulkhead had rotted and had to be cut
out and replaced with marine plywood and re-fiberglassed and the
hull was a mass of nicks, dings and scrapes. A new cabin door had to
be fabricated.
The wood trim had weathered to a dirty grey and much of her running gear needed
replacement. That's to say nothing of things that needed to be added
such as a boarding ladder and other amenities.
But in the end, it was all worth it. I don't want to give the idea I did this all myself.
A lot of people pitched in and worked tirelessly. I
shouldn't mention names right now for I'll forget someone and
piss them off, but to Zandy, Glenn, Ricky, Michael, Molly, Jennie,
Jay, Carmen, Bill and, especially, Keith . . . thank you so very
much. This bud's for you.
