The Wilde Side

This statue of Oscar Wilde was a wonderful discovery since I
always appreciate art with humor. The inset shows the expression
on his face. Sorry about the blur but I had exceeded the
capabilities of the little pocket '35 I was using. You can at
least get a idea of the smirk he is wearing. (Hey, who IS he
laughing at anyway?) Funny, no matter where you moved his eyes
seemed to follow you. He's holding a rose in his right hand and
the smoking jacket he is wearing gives great insight into the
man.
The lower photo shows another view of the piece. You can't tell
from this angle, but the young lady is pregnant and, from the
look on her face, none too happy about the situation. I don't
know if there is any connection, but the juxtaposition and the
direction she is looking gives me suspicions about that Irish
sense of humor again. Apparently the young woman has not yet
understood the joke.

Oscar resides in now.
