I believe I got my first computer, an Apple IIe, for Christmas when I was in Kindergarten. My best experiences with computers since then have been the games and when I first got America Online in 5th grade. The worst experiences were long, exhausting nights, trying to print a paper due in the morning. From the hacker reading I learned the difference between "crackers" and "hackers," and I have more respect for the programming community, seeing that in some respects they recognize the social drawbacks of their work and take pride in it. I want to learn how to program a computer because I think I will come across tasks or problems that a computer program would help to solve, and it would be cool if I could write it.
