www.steinway.comoh, i played piano since the wee little age of 6. yes, picture little chubby-cheeked dave in a clip-on tie walking up to a piano in front of a mostly-parental audience playing the same silly little ditty that the person before him played. (ah the joy of Suzuki piano method). but hey, it got me this far. i had a couple other college prof/teachers and then the lessons kind of stopped. well, me and my sister never called our piano teacher back after taking a summer 'piano vacation'. dr. edel, if you're out there, sorry about that!

so thats where the formal training ended. but any music theory i know is from that, i guess. but see, now when you're free, you start to develop more interest cause you're no longer forced to practice. So i've been learning a lot more non-traditional piano/improv.

only the best!so then, sophomore year in high school, i picked up the guitar. self-teaching yourself with a lot of motivation: 4 years can do a lot for you with practice. imagine how good i could have been at piano if i was that dedicated! for graduation present from high school i got a new guitar. so now i have a nice taylor 310ce. anyone selling an amp-- i could use one! anyway i mostly just pluck out some tunes and do some worship. i've tried to compose some songs but they're all hidden away in my journal and another notebook so no peeking! maybe they'll surface into the public eye one of these days...

guarneri.netwhat else: i played violin for about a year with some teacher whose name started with K that i still can't pronounce. I got frustrated because i couldn't balance the little piggy figurine on the violin, and it kept falling off (in suzuki, form is 50%, repetition is 50%, music is whats left). so i pleaded no time and got off it. thats a lie. i think i just cried my way out of it. too bad that method doesn't work past a certain age. too

i took up harmonica some time during junior year of high school. kudos to stu hackett! he introduced me to this strange new world. i got pretty good at one point. if you're lucky you can see me play guitar and harmonica at the same time. yes, i have this holder thing that makes me look like i'm an adolescent with major dental problems. hah, you'll probably never see it.
