My Musical Interests:
What I have been listening to lately
- Flaming Lips (The 5.1 surround sound version of Yoshimi Battles the Pink
Robots is incredible)
- Radiohead (Hail to the Thief)
- Peter Gabriel (His latest, Up, is quite good, as is the accompanying live
DVD, Growing Up).
- Audioslave (Great Chris Cornell shrieking along with Rage Against the Machine's
instrumentalists)
- Soundtrack to Ocean's 11 is a nice mix of Jazz, a little funk, and some
Vegas-style
- Jane's Addiction (Strays isn't quite where they left off, but it still sounds
like Jane's Addiction)
- Dave Brubeck's Time Out (I'm slowly getting into Jazz, and this is a good
place to start)
- Gladiator (Hans Zimmer's extraordinary score sounds like something the Romans
might have come up with if they had 100 piece symphony orchestras)
Classic Rock/Blues Based
- Pink Floyd/Roger Waters
- The Beatles
- Led Zeppelin
- moe. (Start with "L," their live album, and then get whatever
live recordings you can)
- Jimi Hendrix
- Stevie Ray Vaughan
- Doyle Bramhall II (His self-titled solo debut from 1996 and his excellent
1999 album Jellycream in particular)
- Eric Clapton (and Cream)
- The Black Crowes and Jimmy Page - It couldn't sound anymore like Led Zeppelin,
even with Robert Plant.
- Grandaddy - The Sophtware Slump is a sequel to OK Computer by a different
band. Some tracks from this album were released on Napster by some practical
jokers who claimed it was "Amnesiac."
