Dr. Joe McClernon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University Medical Center and Director of the Health Behavior Neuroscience Research Program. His research interests include the neurobiological basis of drug craving and reward, nicotine dependence among individuals with psychiatric illnesses, the effects of nicotine on cognition and behavior in humans, and the neurobiological basis of obesity. He is working with other researchers to develop new smoking cessation and obesity treatments using modern learning and neuropharmacological techniques and principles. Joe is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of North Carolina. |

Dr. Brett Froeliger is a Research Scientist in the Health Behavior Neuroscience Research Program at Duke University Medical Center. His research interests include the effects of drug addiction on cognitive and emotional information processing, smoking dependence in healthy and psychiatric populations, and the effects of alternative medicine on stress reduction and emotional information processes. Brett is currently using fMRI to investigate the neurocognitive basis of addiction and meditation. |

Rachel joined the lab in November, 2005. She has a B.S. in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Virginia Tech. Rachel is responsible for fMRI data processing and analysis (SPM, FSL), development of computerized data collection systems (e.g., eye-tracking), and provides computer programming support. |

In October 2009, Michelle became the first joint employee of the HBNRP and Duke ADHD Program (Dr. Scott Kollins, director). Prior to that she was the Lab Manager on multiple projects at the Duke Child and Family Study Center. In May 2008, she earned a B.A. in Psychology (with an emphasis in Pan African Studies) from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. |

Jim was a senior biomedical engineering student at Duke. He graduated in Spring 2006 after working in the lab since 2003. While in the lab, Jim specialized in ROI drawing, fMRI data processing, and computer programming. Jim went to work for Microsoft in Redmond, Washington. | |

Amy joined the lab as a Research Technician in June, 2005. She has a B.A. in Psychology from Mississippi State University and a Masters of Theological Studies from Vanderbilt University Divinity School. Amy was the primary coordinator for all lab studies and continues to work part-time in the HBNRP. | |

Berry joined the lab as a Research Technician in 2002. He completed a Master's in Psychology from Wake Forest University during his tenure in the lab. He is currrently working at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. |
