Resumen de la Conferencia (Abstract)

Build Your Own Web Site: An HTML Tutorial for Non-technicians

Demystifying the World Wide Web: A practical introduction to HTML for non-technical users. Open your own multimedia website. Extremely easy. Dazzling results. Understanding and using free and inexpensive resources on the Internet to enliven presentations. No complicated editor to learn.

Prerequisites: comfort with MSWindows (or equivalent); comfort with some Web Browser, preferably MS IExplorer.

The tutorial will teach (1) how to structure an HTML document, (2) "tags" and "attributes", (3) how to enhance text, (4) manipulate colors and backgrounds, 5) add graphics, animation, and sound for genuine multimedia, (6) create links, and (7) find free resources on the Web to simplify and enliven Website construction.

HTML is extremely easy to learn, much easier than the commercial authoring tools. With even a rudimentary knowledge of HTML a user can produce highly dramatic results with minimal effort. Most important: by learning HTML the user has total control over the Web page at the most fundamental level, the code level.

Even with an elementary level of command over HTML, it is extremely easy to harness the countless free resources available on the Internet.
