Ingredienti
[ 235 ml | 1 c ] buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
[ 300 g | 1 3/4 c ] sugar
2 eggs
[ 50 g | 1/2 ] cocoa powder
[ 125 g | 1/2 c + 3 tbsp ] vegetable oil
[ 250 g | 2 c ] flour
2 tsp vanilla
[ 235 ml | 1 c ] stout beer
for the ganache
[ 300 g | 11 oz ] dark chocolate
[ 300 g | 1 1/4 ] heavy cream
[ 40 g | 2 tbsp ] butter

Ricetta
Heat the oven to [ 175 C | 350 F ].
Beat the eggs with the sugar until pale and fluffy. Add all the ingredients except for the stout and mix. Gradually add the stout to form a uniform mixture.
Bake for 30 minutes in a pan with a surface area of about [ 625 cm^2 | 100 in^2 ], for example [ 28 cm diameter | 9x13 in ]. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean. Allow to cool.
Meanwhile prepare the icing. Heat the cream and butter until just boiling. Add the dark chocolate, previously cut into small pieces, and remove pan from heat. Allow to stand for a couple of minutes then whisk until smooth. Pour over cake. Allow to cool.
