Biotechnology Workshops
Our six week “Truffle and mushroom biotechnology training workshops” are led by Vilgalys, Isikhuemhen, and Bonito and hosted by Duke University and the North Carolina Agricultural and Technology State University provided hands-on molecular systematics training undergraduate students and researchers from around the world. Participants are trained in mushroom identification, taxonomy/systematics, sterile culture / mushroom propogation techniques, DNA sequencing and analysis. The final class project involves an ectomycorrhizal community survey of orchards established with the black truffleTuber melanosporum.
