Road to Jerusalem

Clear skies, pale sun, mountain view,

Amidst the backdrop of luscious blue

Dusty, white and misty-hued,

Desert clouds writhe with heaven’s dew

Barren plains the tall trees stand,

Desolate, repetitive, green and bland

My heart dances with much fanfare,

Kicking and shaking, grazing the sand

Pilgrims hail from distant shores

Shedding iniquities for one true cause

To see Jerusalem the crown of pearls

A picturesque landscape so surreal

When dawn breaks unclasping the sky,

Rain falls on Mt. Zion leaving none dry

Give thanks in the name of the lord

And pray for this holy land of God

For rain, sunshine, darkness and light

For peace, justice, kindness and sight
