PROCEDURE

Define projection of benth_bc, fish_bc, and hydro_u as:

projection stateplane

units feet

datum nad83

zone 4901

parameters

Clip each coverage with land_cov3                                                       Out:  benth_len

Out:  fish_len

Out:  hydro_u_len

Edit hydro_u_len by adding new fields and data:

Fields:

Hierarchy

1 = Subwatersheds that flow directly into the Neuse within the county.

2 = Subwatersheds that flow into “1.”

3 = Those that flow into the Neuse or into subwatersheds outside of the county.

BIOCLASS

            0 = Hierarchy 3 or does not contain BIOCLASS monitoring sites

1 = Fish: Poor-fair/ Benthos:  Fair

2 = Fish:  Excellent downstream, poor upstream / Benthos:  Good/Fair

3 = Benthos:  Good

4 = Fish:  Fair-good

5 = Fish:  Fair

Priority

0 = has bioclassses of good or fair-good

1 = has bioclasses of poor, poor-fair, or fair

2 = no monitoring sites within watershed

3 = flows outside of county

Select Priority = 1 from hydro_u_len                                                     Out:  priority_hu

Intersect priority_hu with land_cov3                                                      Out:  lc_priority

Edit lc_priority by adding data

NOTHING

wetlands = 1

Select NOTHING = 1(made doughnut holes)                           Out:  wet_priority2

Edit priority_hu

Convert priority_hu and lc_priority to grids

priority_hu: HU_CODE                                                            Out:  phu

lc_priority: LC_CLASS_                                                          Out:  plc

Add phu and plc                                                                                   Out:  plc_count

Export plc_count to dbf                                                                        Out:  plc_count.dbf

Calculate percent landcover for each subwatershed                               Out:  plc_count2.dbf
