The Liberties from Packer's Point

This is an enlargement of a James Zelner stereoview from Packer's Point, Glen Onoko, looking back towards East Mauch Chunk. The Liberties Central shops are in view just to the right of the river directly above the onlooker's left shoulder - the white buildings near the Central shops (up the hill to the right) are probably the Switchback repair/storage buildings that sat at the edge of the Liberties.   James Zelner was a Mauch Chunk photographer specializing in stereoviews and portraits during the 1870s, 1880s and 1890s. At least on of his "portrait galleries" was located at the corner of Susquehanna and Race streets. He produced a great number of stereoviews of Mauch Chunk and the surrounding area.
