12/15/93: "Several engines were badly damaged on the Lehigh Valley, near Wilkes Barre, on Wednesday night. A long freight train was going up the road drawn by engine 132 and manned by a "new" crew, Ed. Conroy, of the Second Ward, engineer. On the same track engines 310 and 582 had stopped to await signals, also manned by "new" crews." Article goes on to say that 132 ran into the other two trains, being badly damaged. The other crews were "at fault" (supposedly …) because they failed to signal they were stopped (had no flagmen out). |
