Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC (Springbreak 2004)

A huge bridge signals our arrival in Savannah, GA.

Look from the bridge to the right, impressive but not really the "Southern Charme"

Downtown has a lot of charme, with many trees and old houses...

...green places and fountains.

Older tourists enjoy the guided tours

Younger locals enjoy the wealth of spare-time activities

The riverfront is the tourist center of the town

Looking behind the facades

Candy stores are particularly popular and draw masses of childrens' groups; we couldn't resist the free samples either

Old and New

The town was getting read for St. Patrick's Day - everything was green.

Uhm... no picture please?

Everyday Life

Inside one of the beautiful mansions. Some are now museums, others are regular houses for regular people.

More regular people take the bus to other parts of town

The American Oldtimer Club also appreciated the beauty of the place...

...and we appreciated the oldtimers...

...and ourselves in the oldtimers.

Coastal Area

Charleston Harbor

Charleston has romatnic little streets...

...but is nobler than Savannah.

Especially at the waterfront
