Summary: If cues arising from our speech, mannerisms, tone of voice, and overall demeanor automatically bias our unconscious appraisals of one another and surreptitiously influence the quality of our relationships, we ought to mind them.  I argue that they do.  This leads me to motivate two practical norms: a) mind your manners; and b) give others the benefit of a doubt.  Heeding these norms makes agreement and accommodation among pluralistic individuals more likely to materialize.
