Writing Pedagogies

Summer Session One; Wed, 15/13 to 6/17; 10 AM-Noon, Art 116

My aim in this course is to help teachers across the disciplines use writing more effectively in their classes. Our work together will focus on two issues:

  • Setting clear and open-ended tasks for students as writers; and
  • Responding usefully and efficiently to students' work-in-progress.

By the end of this course, you will have:

  • Composed a sequence of writing assignments and activities for a class you plan to teach next year; and
  • Learned a set of strategies for managing the paper load in a class using writing.

I will also be happy to talk about any other issues in teaching writing that you'd like to discuss. I look forward to working with you!
