I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Public Institutions and Public Choice Program (PIPC) in the Department of Political Science at Duke University.

My research is at the intersection of American institutional development and comparative politics and political economy.  Thus far, my research agenda has entailed the creation of a dataset that measures US state-level institutional or democratic development.  I use these measures to investigate various aspects of American institutional development and comparative politics and political economy. For more detail about my research agenda, examples of how I estimate state-level institutional development, and other research projects, please see my research page.

My teaching interests include Congressional politics,
political economy, American politics, and political methodology. You can find more information about my teaching experience and philosophy on the teaching page.
