HOW TO PLAY SET
The computer will play dealer. The object is to find "sets" of cards
based on their characteristics. Each card has four distinct
features: color, number, shape and shading. In order to find a set
(which consists of three cards), one must find cards whose
characteristics match or whose characteristics vary over the 3 cards.
For example, three green, out-lined cards each with 2 ovals is a set. So
is one red (outlined) rectangle, 2 green (shaded) ovals, and 3 blue
(filled in) diamonds.
The idea is that the set must have:
- all the same number (e.g. all contain three objects) or all varied
numbers (i.e. one has 1 obj, one has 2 obj. one has 3 obj)
- all the same color (e.g. all are red) or all varied colors (i.e. red,
green, and blue are represented)
- all the same shading (e.g. all are filled in) or all varied shading
(i.e. one is filled in, one is shaded, one is an outline)
- all the same shape (e.g. all are diamonds) or all varied shapes (i.e.
one diamond card, one oval card, and one rectangle card)
You've got to get all or none to get a set. This all sounds confusing in
words, but it's really to catch onto. Return to the set game
page and take a shot. If you get stuck, let the computer find a few
sets for you until you get the hang of it. Remember to hit the "more
cards" button before you start playing (this is just a minor glitch in
the program. Good Luck!
