About Me I grew up in Pittsburgh in a sports-loving family. I used to play under the bleachers while my mom kept score for dad's softball team. Later, she would keep score for my softball games, while dad sat in the bleachers. Still later, we would all shiver together in the bleachers during my brother's hockey games. I went off to college at the University of Michigan purely for the academics, not because my dad played his alma mater's fight song every day after work during my senior year in high school. While I was there, Michigan happened to win national titles in both football and hockey. Duke also happened to win a national title in basketball the year I started graduate school. Coincidence? Also at Duke, I expanded the family by marrying a hockey-and-baseball-loving Canuck, Simon Tonev. He's slowly coming around to the football thing, mostly because of the Miller Lite and chicken wings I promise him on Saturday afternoons in the fall. We are both very food-motivated. We often fight over the use of our KitchenAid mixer; I want to bake and he wants to make his famous sausages. Our favorite part of traveling, which we do whenever our schedules and our checkbooks can handle it, is trying local restaurants and regional specialities. Though this is usually great, I wold advise you to distrust what the Scots tell you (the oatmeal does *not* make a difference) and stay away from haggis. I hope that gives you a bit of a better idea of who I am and some of what I'm interested in outside of Psychology. Thanks again for visiting and enjoy the rest of the site! |
