Introduction

I currently live in Morrisville, NC but am originally from Ashburn, VA. I am a Junior majoring in ECE and CPS.

Introduction

I grew up in a technology-oriented family, so we’ve owned computers since before I was born. I first started using computers when I was very young, and it typically was for basic kids games on DOS. Since then I have primarily used Windows computers. On a daily basis, I use computers constantly – from doing work to keeping in touch with friends to playing music or games. In 10th grade, I wrote a “march madness” program which was hosted from my computer and allowed my friends to fill out their brackets online and tabulated the results. This was both my best programming experience and made me interested in computer science because it showed me how code could be used for a real (and fun) application. My least favorite programming assignment was my first attempt at recursion in 9th grade. I simply could not wrap my mind around using the same method to call itself and build a tree. Fortunately, I later understood how it worked and would probably enjoy the assignment nowadays. On a daily basis, I feel like most computer scientists write specialized pieces of code for a larger project, but hope to advance to be more of a planner. In the future I see computers being an even larger part of my life, although I am unsure whether I will focus on the hardware or software side in my field of study.
