Common Goldeneye (Bucephala clangula)

Very uncommon in winter in NC, and even less commonly found away from the coast. Common Goldeneyes breed all across Canada from coast to coast.

Very distinctive with round white spot between eye and bill on dark head with golden eye, back black with white scapular lines; and white sides.
