Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos)

Rare in winter in NC, Golden Eagles breed in the western US.

These photos were snapped with a Canon EOS 20D with a 100mm macro lens using autofocus.

We found this bird during a Carolina Bird Club field trip to the Lake Landing impoundments around Lake Mattamuskeet.
