Winters in NC in large numbers from the Outer Banks to the upper coastal plain refuges (Alligator River, Pungo, Lake Mattamuskeet, etc.).

This female goose is over 12 years old. It was banded as an adult on Bylot Island, Nunavut, Canada in 1997.

This is a tiny fraction of the Snow Goose flock at Pungo National Wildlife Refuge. Note that there are lots of Tundra Swans already in the field.
