Recorded from scattered counties statewide in NC, this butterfly seems to have become more rare in the last decade or so. Adults have been found from early spring to late fall but are most commonly seen from mid-summer into the fall. Checkered Whites are abundant in certain parts of the western US, and why it's so rare in NC is unknown.
