Dion Skipper (Euphyes dion)

This species is fairly local in the coastal plain and eastern piedmont of NC. It is generally uncommon to locally fairly common, associated with wet marshy/sedgy edges, ditches, ponds, etc., and is always a delight to find.

Dion Skippers are identified by a combination of relatively large size, orange undersides with a distinct ray through the hindwing, and faint cream spots near the underforewing tip (lacking in Dukes' Skipper).
