Fiery Skipper (Hylephila phyleus)

Fiery Skippers are found statewide in NC, where they can be abundant in parts of the coastal plain (I've seen over a thousand in a day on the Pettigrew State Park NABA Butterfly Count) but rare in parts of the mountains. This species is one of the most frequently encountered orange skippers in yards and gardens.
