Harvester (Feniseca tarquinius)

Always a treat to find, Harvesters are uncommon in the NC mountains and fairly to very rare elsewhere in North Carolina. Harvesters have several broods and may be found on the wing from spring into fall. Harvesters are the only carnivorous North American butterflies; the larvae feed on wooly adelgids.
