These two individuals, found in St Clair Co., MI 8 July 2003, occur in a possible overlap zone of both Northerns and Pearls. Perhaps the individual on the left is a Northern Crescent(Phyciodes selenis) and the one on the right is a Pearl(Phyciodes tharos). Or perhaps both belong to the same species...
