Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta)

This species is found both statewide and across the continent. In NC, Red Admirals may be seen on nearly any warm day of the year, although they are rare in mid-winter. They have three broods and are most often seen from March to October. They're uncommon to fairly common and are found in many different habitats including backyard gardens.
