Ornate Pennant, Faded Pennant (Celithemis ornata)

Fairly common in the NC coastal plain and uncommon in the piedmont. The Dragonfly Society of the Americas recently adopted a name change from Faded Pennant to Ornate Pennant for this species.


Males have dark red marking Pender Co., NC 23 Apr 2006
